The Midwifery Model of Care is the Heart and Soul of midwifery care, as it is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are a normal process of life. The Midwifery Model of Care includes monitoring of the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the mother, her pregnancy, and her birth. This model provides the mother with individualized prenatal support during labor, birth, and postpartum care.
Midwives are trained to identify when obstetrical referral's and transfer of care is necessary.
I believe every woman deserves a choice in how she wishes to birth her children. A choice in whether that decision is a hospital, birth center, or a homebirth. I believe that pregnancy, labor and birth are natural processes and that all woman have a right to a dignified, enriching, and satisfying birth experience.
The midwife's role is of a guide, offering information, and respecting the woman's and her family's wishes while ensuring a beautiful and safe experience that she has dreamed of.
