White Crane MidwiferyKaren Wendt is a 1995 graduate of Frontier Nursing Service’s
Community-based Nurse-Midwifery Education Program.The practical experience came from an
internship with the Baylor Nurse Midwives in Houston, TX.She has worked in a CNM/MD practice in
American Fork, Utah, and then in Lander, Wyoming.She presently works one day per week in a
full service Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner–owned office in Lander and has

in Fremont County, Wyoming.Philosophy of White Crane Midwifery: Women should be able to control their own birth, including the environment in which that occurs. Women with complicated pregnancies will wisely choose a medical environment. Those with uncomplicated pregnancies should choose the environment in which they feel safe and secure. For some women that will be a place other than the hospital. Midwives are present to assist the woman to a safe, uncomplicated birth.
