Meet the Midwife

Tanya Parsons LM, CPM

Tanya had a thriving homebirth practice in Bend, Oregon from 2004-2010 before relocating to the Central Coast of California. Her path to Midwifery began in 1994 after the birth of her eldest son when she desired to find a better way for women to birth. She studied Anthropology and Women’s Studies at Oregon State University. Tanya was originally an apprentice trained midwife. Tanya then completed the National Midwifery Institutes program for CA licensure. She is licensed by the Medical Board of California and Nationally Certified (CPM) by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM).   Tanya lives in Los Osos where she enjoys spending time with her 4 children, hiking and practicing yoga.

  Heather Larsen Sagna
Professional Midwifery Assistant

My name is Heather Larsen Sagna, I am a mother of 2 amazing children. When my son Skyer was born at home, I knew I wanted to be a midwife. The experience I had was so full of love and support that it helped me to trust the process of birth. My hope is to help other women to have the same gentle loving experience I had.
I have been apart of birth since I was a small child, as my mother was a Lay midwife .I am currently studying with the National Midwifery Institute. I have worked with many local midwives as a Professional Midwifery Assistant and Apprentice. I have also worked in Senegal, West Africa in a Maternity clinic over the last couple of years. I am a certified Childbirth Educator and Doula. I love every thing about mama's, babies and children, I love what I do and I am blessed by every birth I get to be apart of.

Marisa Gray
Midwife Apprentice

I grew up here on the Central Coast and after being away for 8 years there is nothing better than being back home.  I am the mother of 3 beautiful children.  My first 2 birth experiences led to my search for other options.
I believed in my body and my ability to birth in the safety of our home.  I found Tanya in 2004 while living in Central Oregon and not only did I have the most empowered home birth experience, I felt compelled to start the process of learning everything I could so that I would be able to someday witness other women cross over the sacred bridge into birth. I was able to apprentice with Tanya for a short time and now, here on the Central Coast, I am once again blessed to apprentice with this woman who is not only an amazing midwife, but also my close friend.I have been certified in massage since 1995 and bring those skills into birth when desired.  I offer Placenta Encapsulation for all women here on the Central Coast and believe deeply in the benefits. It is my intention to hold a space for each family to create the birth they desire.
